In Israel there are cancer patients and other seriously ill patients who are in urgent need of life-saving medication or urgent private medical treatments, but they are not “entitled” to receive them because these medications and treatments are not included in the “Health basket” of the public medical insurance customary in Israel.
The patients are helpless in light of the bitter reality. Not only do they have to fight for their lives, they also have to cope with financial problems to purchase vital and expensive medicine or for essential medical treatments that add up to thousands of dollars a month.
DON’T THE POOR SICK PEOPLE OF ISRAEL HAVE A RIGHT TO LIVE?!
Someone who has money pays for the drugs and the medical services from his own money and he who doesn’t have... his fate is sealed and he waits with despair and trepidation for the days that follow...
Many of the sick patients tried with their remaining strengths to collect donations in order to survive. Most of them collapsed in the middle of their efforts. This is a totally impossible solution - for the families of the patients as well, who are busy day and night with the treatment of their dear one and are not able to go collecting.
There are a few patients who decided to fight the Department of Health legally, but most of them lost the battle - and their money as well.

There is a solution. that is why we are appealing to you as emissaries of the unfotunate, agonized patients who beg for their lives and wait longingly for the rescuing medicines and urgent medical treatments.
The Refua Vachesed organization has made it its prupose to help the sick in attaining vital medication and urgent medical treatment. Likewise, the organization helps the patients and their families with financial support for basic commodities and emotional support and encouragement in order to strengthen their spirits and infuse their hearts with hope for life.
Many calls reach us from patients throughout the country, asking us and begging us to extend the help. Every case is truly a matter of life and death! If we had the necessary financial resources -
we would be able to save the lives of many additional patients.
